It’s almost that time again. While it may seem like just yesterday when you were embarking on spring cleaning, fall is right around the corner. That means your home could probably stand a fresh coat of cleanliness. Up next are three important items that should be on every homeowner’s fall cleaning checklist.

1. Cleaning the walls and baseboards

Walls get dirty. So do baseboards. Over time, they both collect lots of dust, and sometimes they even end up discolored (Where you at, parents of small children?). If the last time you cleaned the walls of your home was in the spring, they’re well past due. Here’s a short video featuring some helpful wall- and baseboard-cleaning tips.

2. Organizing and tidying up the pantry

If you’re anything like most homeowners, you probably don’t clean your pantry all that often. In fact, you might not even really clean it up but two or three times a year. In the spirit of getting all your ducks in a row for fall, we recommend not only cleaning your pantry but organizing it, too. Cleaning this area is pretty simple. Just remove everything and scrub your bare shelves with a soapy, wet kitchen cloth. Perhaps spray the shelves with some disinfectant, as well.

While you’re at it, you might also sweep and mop the pantry floor. Once you’ve done this, you’re ready to start reorganizing your pantry! Here’s a video on how to turn your pantry into a place where you can easily find things and won’t be so overwhelmed come the fall.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qiaNI8Kui4c

3. Sprucing up the yard and outside of the house

While various spaces inside your house should be high on your fall cleaning checklist, it’s important not to forget about the outside. Thanks to the cooler temperatures, fall is a great time to get outside and make sure your yard is attractive and welcoming to any visitors you may host. The same goes for the outside of your house itself. Has the paint faded on your shutters or front door? Do the gutters need to be, well, gutted? Maybe your patio furniture just needs a nice bath from the water hose. Yeah, you get the idea. There’s nothing outside of your front door that should be off the table when it comes to fall cleaning. Below is a video full of ways to spruce up your yard for fall. Also be sure to check out this “Ultimate Fall Cleaning Checklist.”
