Looking for some fun things to do in Charlotte or surrounding areas before winter officially arrives? Don’t sweat it. At Fairway of the Carolinas, we are here to help you stay busy and entertained. Up next are four must-dos for you and your family in the month of November.

1. Check out the Festival of Trees in Pinehurst

Coming up November 17-21 is the 25th Annual Festival of Trees in the Charlotte suburb of Pinehurst. On display in the parking lot of The Carolina Hotel will be more than 100 Christmas trees of various sizes, all uniquely decorated for the holidays. The festival, which opens at 10 a.m. each day, benefits Sandhills Children’s Center. The cost of admission is any monetary donation big or small, which will help provide vital therapies for kids with special developmental needs.

2. Go apple picking at Windy Hill Orchard & Cider Mill

Apple picking has run its course for 2021 in many places, but a few opportunities remain to grab some fresh fruit at this orchard in York, South Carolina. Located only about 50 minutes from the heart of Uptown Charlotte, Windy Hill still has some apples available, but you must act fast. In fact, apple-picking is currently by reservation-only. The good news is, even if you miss your picking window, the orchard has plenty of pre-picked apples still available. Also, its hours of operation and activities will continue as scheduled through mid-December. Thankfully, there’s more to do here than just pick apples. Other activities include cider tastings, fire pit gatherings and hayrides. Click here to learn more.

3. Attend a Charlotte Hornets game

As fun things to do in Charlotte go, how about some basketball? November means the NBA is back in full swing, and the hometown Charlotte Hornets have six home games at the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte. Ticket prices are quite reasonable for these always-exciting events, so it’s not a bad idea to take the whole family. If you care anything about the NBA at all, one game you might want to circle on your calendar is the Hornets-Golden State Warriors game in Charlotte on Sunday, November 14.

This will mark a homecoming for Charlotte native and former NBA MVP Stephen Curry, who is the star player on the Warriors roster. While this game will cost you a little bit more to attend than the others, it’s worth it to see the three-time NBA champion in action in front of his hometown crowd. 4. Visit the Carolina Renaissance Festival

If you’re looking for fun things to do in Charlotte, this one is hard to top. Just north of Charlotte in the town of Huntersville is the Carolina Renaissance Festival. Held every Saturday and Sunday through November 21, this open air artisan market features arts and crafts, games and rides, jousting knights on horseback, falconry, mermaids, fairies, dragons and more. And, of course, there’s plenty of food and drink to go around. Click here to plan your visit.
