At Fairway of the Carolinas, we are always looking for ways to give back to our local community. One of our biggest initiatives, is holding quarterly blood drives with our friends at OneBlood. We have several members of our staff whose personal loved ones have relied on the generous donations. We are committed to always doing what we can to help!

What happened

Held on Thursday, April 14th at our Blakeney office in South Charlotte, our Fairway of the Carolinas team along with local supporters helped donate 28 units of blood. We had a total of 25 people come out to donate and even had four of our very own donate two units of blood. These donors were, Jake Keado, Ken Land, Tom Pearman, and Jeff Reeves. This exceeded our goal and was our largest blood drive to date! A big thank you for all who donated and came out to help make this event a success!

Among those who gave the gift of blood were Fairway of the Carolinas Marketing Coordinator Bart Good. “I have seen first hand the importance of blood donation. I know there are people out there who need blood to continue their fight! My hope is that by donating I can help someone in need and give them the strength to fight on!

More about OneBlood

This non-profit organization offers safe and affordable blood to more than 200 hospital partners and their patients in Charlotte and other areas in the Southeast. OneBlood distributes nearly one million blood products each year and runs more than 80 donor centers. The organization also deploys nearly 200 of its familiar Big Red Buses throughout its service area.

Some blood could be used in local hospitals as soon as 48-72 hours from time of donation. This is incredible that OneBlood works swifty to make sure they are helping supply hospitals and blood banks. It is also great news for donors to know that they could make a almost immediate impact.

Final thought

Fairway of the Carolinas made sure to keep their donors well fed with donuts, sweet treats, and some Fairway swag bags for all who came out. We even had our “Office Dog” Bailey on hand to say hello and steal some pets!

Our next fairway blood drive should come sometime early summer. We are excited to have such a great relationship with One Blood. We looking forward to continuing to show our support and raise awareness for the local blood shortages in our area.
